THE HISTORY OF ANDYMC

ANDYMC was formed in 1998, at a meeting of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators held in Melbourne.

ANDYMC grew out of a network called NDYCN  (National Diocesan Youth Coordinators Network).  For the first time, those in diocesan youth ministry roles throughout Australia began to establish formal procedures for networking and avenues for collaborative projects.

Since the formation of ANDYMC, Diocesan Youth Ministry coordinators around the country are in more regular contact with each other, for sharing resources and support.

We are viewed as a peak body for youth ministry in Australia, and are working on many projects that have a national significance.

ANDYMC has an Annual Membership Meeting, where each diocese in Australia is invited to send a representative familiar with diocesan level youth ministry. This is usually the Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator.

Each year a different diocese hosts the Annual Membership Meeting.  These meetings have taken place in the following dioceses:

  • 1998    Melbourne

  • 1999    Brisbane

  • 2000    Canberra

  • 2001    Sandhurst

  • 2002    Perth

  • 2003    Toowoomba

  • 2004    Sydney

  • 2005    Hobart  (October 2005)
